Pulmonary aspergilloma, an unusual complication in Wegener's granulomatosis.

چکیده
Introduction With the increase in survival as a result of cyclophosphamide therapy, new complications of Wegener's granulomatosis have been encountered. TheEe include the adverse effects of treatment, bacterial infections of the nose and paranasal sinuses (Fauci and Wolff, 1973), obstructive laryngitis (personal observation) and subacute or chronic endobronchial disease which may lead to progressive narrowing and stenosis (Flye, Mundinger and Fauci, 1979). Another, albeit not totally unexpected, type of complication is now described.

Bronchoplastic procedure for an unusual indication--Wegener's granulomatosis.
Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) is a systemic vasculitic condition that commonly affects the lung and kidneys. With improvement in medical therapy, airway complications are increasingly encountered and are difficult to manage. Here, we present a case whereby a patient presenting with airway complication is successfully treated with surgery.

متن کاملA Case of Wegener’s Granulomatosis Complicated by Diffuse Pulmonary Hemorrhage and Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
Wegener's granulomatosis is a distinct form of necrotizing granulomatous vasculitis which usually affects the kidneys and the upper and lower respiratory tracts. Unusual manifestations have also been reported, and these include colitis, urethritis and diabetes insipidus. We describe a case of Wegener's granulomatosis which presented with rapidly progressive renal insufficiency, sudden deafness,...
متن کاملProcalcitonin as an indicator of systemic response to infection in active pulmonary Wegener's granulomacytosis.
Differential diagnosis of infection during active immune disease, such as Wegener's granulomatosis (Wegener's granulomatosis), is a major clinical challenge. Laboratory measures, erythrocyte sedimentation rate or C-reactive protein, can be elevated in infections that supervene, or coinciding with, in active Wegener's granulomatosis, and thus are nonspecific. The aim of the study was to compare ...
متن کاملWegener's granulomatosis with multiple cranial nerve involvements as the initial clinical manifestations.
Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) is a disease of unknown origin characterized by necrotizing granulomas of both the upper and lower respiratory tracts and glomerulonephritis. A 62-year-old woman presenting unusual neurological manifestations is reported. The patient suffered from palsies of multiple cranial nerves without manifestation of respiratory tracts in the initial clinical course. Seven ye...
